ANNVILLE, Pa. – Amanda Douglass netted her first goal of the season, but the Dutchmen were beaten 3-1 at home against Misericordia Wednesday night.
Douglass tied the game at 1-1 in the 59
th minute on a huge cross set up by
Nicole Snyder that hit far right in the net. Douglass got plenty of looks at the goal with seven shots – a game high.The goal doubles as the team's first of the season after being shut out at Gettysburg over the weekend.
The Cougars (3-0) got two goals from sophomore midfielder Megan Lannigan. Lannigan struck first in the 22
nd minute then busted the tie off a corner kick in the 69
th. Junior middy Alyssa Mocion converted a corner kick in the 84
th minute to give the team insurance.
Though they were outshot 12-9 in the first half, the Dutchmen (0-2) outshot the Cougars 16-7 in the second half and finished with a 25-19 advantage. Turnovers were critical, as LVC turned the ball over 14 times on fouls to Misericordia's six.
Sami Young played the entire game in goal and made 10 saves in what proved to be a high-firing game.
The Dutchmen play at Marywood Saturday at 1 p.m.
