Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley earned a 3-1 win by outshooting DeSales 18-6 Tuesday night, but it wasn't pretty. The teams played a physical match and combined for six cards, including five in the second half.
Stephen Simonian and
Andrew Cooper both scored their second goals of the season, and
Luke Stouffer added his first score as a Dutchman after transferring in from Penn State last spring.
The Bulldogs (1-1-1) scored the only goal of the first half as Jonathan Balfour banked a ball off the left post past
James Clements. Balfour took a pass from Steve Krause, who earned the assist.
Simonian was the first to score for LVC (3-0) when he converted a pass from
Connor McDonald in the 71
st minute. Stouffer struck in the 80
th minute, and Cooper scored less than a minute later on a pass from
Cam Alexander. Both Simonian and Stouffer hit on their first and only shots of the game. Cooper finished 1-for-2.
Four cards were shown in the final 10 minutes of the game – two for each team.
Clements earned his second win of the season after making four saves on five chances. He was named Commonwealth Conference Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day for his play against Grove City over the weekend.
The Dutchmen return to action Friday and Saturday at the Richard Stockton Tournament. They open against the hosting Ospreys Friday night at 5 p.m.
