Carol Miller won her 300th career game as Lebanon Valley's offense exploded for four first-half goals in a 5-2 win at Susquehanna on Wednesday night.
The Dutchmen (3-4) got back-to-back goals in the first half from
Mandi Albright sandwiched between
Kelsey Miller and
Laura James strikes to take control of the game, outshooting the Crusaders (2-5) 27-10, including 14-5 in the first half.
Miller is only the 26th coach in the history of NCAA field hockey - in all divisions - to reach 300 wins; she is 300-220-18 in 27 seasons at LVC, Delaware, and Millersville. She is 20-9 in her second season at the Valley.
Susquehanna actually struck first as Ally Bradley put the home side up at 6:03, but Miller's hit at 7:25 tied the game, and Albright scored her pair less than two minutes apart to put the Dutchmen in control. James scored in the 22nd minute to give LVC a 4-1 halftime lead.
Kirsten Martzall scored a late insurance goal at 62:55, and Bradley scored a consolation goal off a corner as time expired.
Chloe Baro made five saves to earn the win; Margaret Ruth (6 saves) and Alyssa Rothman (2 saves) split halves for SU. LVC led 13-6 on corners.
LVC will open Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday, visiting Alvernia for an 11 a.m. start.
