LANCASTER, Pa. – Lebanon Valley split in two matches on day one of the F&M Scramble Tournament Saturday. The Dutchmen opened with a 3-2 win over the host team in the early match before losing a tough one to Susquehanna later in the afternoon.
LVC (7-6) won on the strength of its blocking against F&M.
Alli Quirk,
Megan Schoch, and
Sarah Godfrey each had fantastic performances at the net. Quirk and Schoch each finished with five block assists; Godfrey had four assists and a block solo.
Serving was also a strength.
Jess Finlayson aced three serves, and
Emily Sides aced another two.
Kellsie Groff led the offense with 13 kills. Godfrey and Schoch each finished with 11, and Quirk added another seven.
On defense,
Allie Garrett led with 19 digs.
Ally Stengel followed with 15, Groff had 11, and Finlayson had 10.
In the late match against Susquehanna, the Dutchmen clawed to climb back into contention in the third set but ultimately lost in four.
Godfrey led with eight kills. Groff, Stengel,
Maggi Secrest, and Quirk each finished with six.
Sides and Groff led the defense with 12 digs, while Finlayson and Stengel finished with 10 each.
The Dutchmen draw Richard Stockton and Eastern Sunday morning on the final day of the tournament.
