ANNVILLE, Pa. – Amanda Douglass made a series of plays in the final minutes of Thursday's match with Wilkes that showed her determination to walk away with a win, ending in her game-winning goal off a cross from
Sarah Wannlund in the 89
th minute.
Moments earlier with 2:24 to play, Douglass made an aggressive pass to
Nicole Snyder 15 yards out. Snyder's shot was saved by Wilkes' goalie Kate Mahoney in a full-extension dive.
Douglass took a pass from Wannlund from the far left and aced it for her second goal of the season and first game winner.
Becca Sykes played her second game in goal and improved to 2-0. She made five saves, including four as pressure mounted in the second period.
The Dutchmen (3-2) did well in the battle for possessions and outshot the Colonels (3-2) 17-8. Snyder and
Heather Tran got the most looks with four shots each.
LVC plays at Susquehanna Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
