Lebanon Valley 0, Messiah 3 (18-25, 19-25, 17-25)
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley opened its home schedule with a three-set loss to conference rivals Messiah Tuesday night by scores of 18-25, 19-25, and 17-25. The Dutchmen steadily improved their attacks set to set but couldn't overcome a Falcon team that was aggressive at the net.
The Dutchmen (6-4, 1-1 CC) hit for a -.167 attack percentage in the first set with 10 errors but improved to .094 in set two and .300 in set three. The Falcons (6-2, 2-0) mirrored the pattern with .000, .156, and .414 percentages.
Sarah Godfrey led with seven kills and was especially dangerous in the third set, where she finished with five kills on seven attacks.
Kellsie Groff finished with six and three different players finished with three kills apiece. Defensively,
Kacey Musselman took charge with 10 digs followed by
Allie Garrett's eight and Groff's six.
Messiah put up eight blocks with three different players recording block solos. Lauren Rees led with 13 kills and 13 digs – typical of the strong season she's putting together for the Falcons.
The Dutchmen host Stevenson Thursday night at 7 p.m.
