Wayne Perry '78 won his 500th career match as Lebanon Valley beat York, 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 24-26, 25-22) at Cortland, the first of two wins on Saturday.
LVC also beat Baruch in five, 3-2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 16-14), in the Silver Pool final to win the grouping.
Perry - the only coach the program has ever had, making the win the 500th in LVC history as well - is the 26th coach in Division III history to reach the 500-win milestone, and he is 13th among active NCAA Division III coaches in wins. In 26 seasons, Perry is 500-290.
Against York, the Dutchmen (2-2) needed a gritty performance led by
Megan Schoch's 12 kills, and
Emily Sides added 10 and
Kellsie Groff 9. LVC's serving got it done, with
Jess Finlayson slotting in four aces to go with Sides' 3, and
Kacey Musselman paced LVC with several long serving runs.
Defensively, Musselman led with 19 digs, and Groff added 11. Musselman was named to the all-tournament team.
