Volleyball Winless in Day One of Red Dragon Classic

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CORTLAND, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley had a rough go-around on the opening night of the Cortland Red Dragon Volleyball Classic at SUNY Cortland Friday. The Dutchmen lost matches to Buffalo State and Rowan.
 
Alli Quirk led the team in kills with 19 total across the two matches in her collegiate debut. Quirk opened with seven kills against Buffalo State (1-0) and added 12 kills against Rowan (1-0) in the late match.
 
Kayla Confer and Kellsie Groff each picked up nine kills against Buffalo State. Confer added seven against Rowan for a total of 16 points on the day. Kacey Musselman played especially well against Buffalo State, finishing with three aces and 24 digs.
 
Jess Finlayson had a strong night in the back row with 23 digs against Buffalo State and another 13 against Rowan. Freshman Allie Garrett had a strong showing in the second match with 11 digs.
 
The Dutchmen (0-2) held a 2-1 advantage against Buffalo State in the early match before allowing three consecutive sets to the Bengals. LVC got four blocks from its front row, including a solo and an assist from freshman Emily Sides and two assists from Confer.
 
The tournament continues Saturday. The Dutchmen will see York at noon.
