ANNVILLE, Pa. – Kellsie Groff hit for a team-best 15 kills to lead Lebanon Valley to a three-set win over Albright at home Tuesday night. The win came on Senior Night, wherein the team celebrated the four-year career of its lone senior, captain
Ally Stengel.
Scores got more competitive set-by-set – in line with a drop-off in LVC's hitting percentage. The Dutchmen hit a match-high .324 in the first set. Stengel and Groff each hit for four kills – Stengel on six attacks and Groff on four.
Groff led the team with four digs in the that set to help slow the Lions, and
Kacey Musselman picked up a rare block solo. It marks her first this season.
The Lions scored 20 and 22 points in the second and third sets, respectively, despite hitting .074 and .080. They were aided by a combined 16 errors from the Dutchmen across the two sets.
The third set was tied as late as 19-19.
Ashley Kutz got five serving chances, as the Dutchmen began to recreate separation. Kutz picked up her second ace of the season in the rally.
After Groff's 15, Stengel finished with six kills and
Kayla Confer and
Steph Klunk each finished with five. Musselman helped the attack with two kills, four aces, and 33 assists.
Groff and Musselman shared the lead with nine digs each. The team totaled three blocks, including Musselman's solo effort.
The Dutchmen (13-12, 4-3 CC) have concluded their home schedule for the regular season and remain in the running for a playoff spot with eight matches to play. The Lions (5-11, 0-6) remain winless in conference play.
LVC will play at the Hartwick/Holiday Inn Invitational this weekend with matches set against SUNY Plattsburgh, Utica, Keuka, and hosts Hartwick.
