WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Cam Alexander was perfect on three shot attempts, striking for the first hat trick of his collegiate career and leading Lebanon Valley to a 4-1 win at Lycoming Tuesday night.
Alexander connected on an unassisted thirty-yard shot in the fifth minute of the match to put the Dutchmen on the board, playing a deflection off a defender.
Andrew Cooper scored what would amount to the game winner 12 minutes later on a pass from
Travis Miller. Cooper knocked a 25-yard header below the center cross to give the Dutchmen a 2-0 advantage.
The match instantly tightened as Charlie Vess hit for Lycoming's only goal 11 seconds later. Vess scored unassisted into the left corner on one of seven shots on goal
James Clements faced in the net for LVC. He made six saves.
Alexander scored in the 33
rd and 52
nd minutes to sure up the win. On the first, he charged down half the field and hit the left corner. On the last, he hit on a cross from
Greg Figueroa.
Alexander sits at 11 total goals this season – good enough to tie the third best total in single-season history at LVC. The hat trick pushes him past Messiah's Jeremy Payne for the highest total in the Commonwealth Conference.
The Warriors (4-5-2, 1-2-1 CC) held advantages in both shots and corners in the match. They outshot the Dutchmen (10-2-1, 3-1) 17-16 and held a 5-3 on corner kicks.
