M. Soccer Claims Vengeance and Beats Alvernia on Alexander Strike

Box Score Men's Soccer
Lebanon Valley 1, Alvernia 0

READING, Pa. - Cam Alexander continued his historic season by matching a single-season record on his eighth goal of the season. Alexander's goal in the fourth minute of Lebanon Valley's match at Alvernia Saturday was his fourth game-winning goal of the season, making him the fourth player in program history to reach the feat.

Alexander had a penalty kick stopped by senior goalie Ben Diller before charging in and scoring on the deflection to give the Dutchmen (9-2-1, 2-1 CC) an early 1-0 advantage that they'd carry to the end of the match.

The victory comes in a rematch of last year's Commonwealth Conference semifinals, in which the Dutchmen lost to the Crusaders 2-1 in overtime.

Alvernia (6-4-3, 1-2) held a 7-4 advantage in shots on the match. Alexander, Greg Figueroa, and Octavio Romero were the only players afforded chances at the goal with Alexander taking two of the four total shots.

The win marks the fourth shutout of the season for the Dutchmen, and James Clements has been in the net for three of them. He made two saves in the win.

LVC plays at Lycoming Tuesday at 4 p.m.
