Lebanon Valley 1, Elizabethtown 1 (2OT)
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – This is the time of season where every team needs to make its final push to sure up a playoff spot. If the season ended right now, both Lebanon Valley and Elizabethtown would be in. The two teams certainly put on a show in a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon.
Elizabethtown (8-3-5, 4-1-2 CC) held a narrow 22-20 advantage in shots taken by the end of the second overtime. With both teams playing balanced soccer up and down the pitch, much of the pressure was put on the goalkeepers.
Sami Young made four saves in the first half to keep the Blue Jays scoreless, but the Dutchmen (8-6-1, 4-2-1) weren't able to score.
Neither team reached the scoreboard until E-town freshman Kaceyanne Cerankowski hit a shot off Young's hands in the 65th minute.
Nicole Snyder had a shot saved less than four minutes later on a boot from the top of the box, but
Jess Kleeschulte was in place to poke in a goal off the deflection. Kleeschulte played the ball between the post and a defender for her third goal of the season.
The Dutchmen would have taken control in the second half had it not been for five saves made by E-town goalie Jess Manchak. There were 11 shots taken in overtime – seven by E-town and four by LVC. Both goalies finished the match with eight total saves.
LVC has two regular season matches remaining. The Dutchmen host Widener Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their annual Senior Day game. They close out at Arcadia Saturday at 1 p.m.
