Lebanon Valley 1, Stevenson 2
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Jess Kleeschulte scored early to set the table for Lebanon Valley, but the team failed to score in the remainder of a match against Stevenson and lost, 2-1, at home Tuesday afternoon.
Kleeschulte needed full extension to get a soft touch on a ball in heavy traffic that dribbled into the far left of the goal in the third minute. The goal was her second of the season and went unassisted, as she created her own opportunity against a pair of defenders.
Stevenson (7-4, 1-1) equalized the match in the final minute of the first half on a goal by junior Jennifer Simkin. The shot came off a corner kick that was initially deflected by
Sami Young. Sophomore Meaghan Williams went on to score the game winner in the 74
th minute off a cross from the far right.
LVC (5-5, 1-1) held a 19-11 advantage in shots, but Stevenson keeper Allison Johnson manned a tight goal with nine saves. Young faced just two shots on goal for the Dutchmen, but both hit the net.
The Dutchmen debuted this year's pink jerseys in the match – worn in support of Pink On the Pitch. The initiative raises money for the American Cancer Society through October. Each jersey is being auctioned through GoDutchmen.com and in-person bidding at home matches.
LVC faces two upcoming road matches. They play at Alvernia Saturday and at Lycoming next Wednesday.
