FREDERICK, Md. – Stephen Simonian and
Kelly Hess scored early goals, and the Dutchmen maintained control until the end in a 3-0 win at Hood Wednesday.
Simonian put Lebanon Valley (11-3-1, 4-2 CC) on the board off a ninth-minute corner kick from
Greg Figueroa. Figueroa earned his second assist on a goal by Hess two minutes later on a free kick. The goals were the third of the season for both Simonian and Hess.
Cam Alexander scored his team-leading 12
th goal of the season on a header in the 85
th minute. The ball came in off a cross from
Kevin Doty.
The Dutchmen held astonishing advantages in shots (23-4) and corner kicks (7-0) in the match, keeping Hood (3-8-2, 0-6) winless in Commonwealth Conference play. The Blazers have lost their last seven matches, while the Dutchmen were able to bounce back from a loss to Messiah over the weekend.
James Clements made two saves for LVC in just over 87 minutes of play. He shared time with
Brian Frasca, who played in his third match of the season.
The Dutchmen, currently sitting in third place in the conference, have three matches remaining in the regular season. They play at second-place Elizabethtown Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
