CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - DeSales scored twice in the final seven minutes - including the gamewinner with 48 seconds remaining in regulation - to comeback and stun Lebanon Valley 3-2 on Monday.
The Dutchmen (6-3-0) held a 2-1 lead on goals by
Travis Miller and
Kevin Doty, but the Bulldogs ripped off five shots in the closing minutes to first level the game on Derek Long's shot and then go up on Zach Davis' strike.
It was a dramatic end to an even game, with the Bulldogs (6-2-1) holding a slim 15-14 shots advantage and LVC leading 10-7 on corner kicks.
DeSales held an early lead when Jon Mill headed in a set piece from Steve Krause in the 20th minute, but the Dutchmen quickly equalized when Miller converted from
Connor McDonald four minutes later.
The game stayed 1-1 until the 58th minute when Doty unleashed a cannon to the far post off Miller's short corner feed, putting LVC up 2-1, where they'd stay until the 84th minute when Long took a pass from Davis and went over a diving
James Clements to level at 2-2.
Davis then collected a rebound to win it at 89:12 off Jonathan Balfour's blocked effort.
Clements ended up with five saves; DeSales used two keepers, with Mike Thompson playing 68:40 and making three stops, and Colin Sulpizio earning the win in 21:20 of relief.
The Dutchmen will visit Misericordia on Wednesday.
