ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley hit .312 and served 11 aces to improve to 2-0 in Commonwealth Conference play with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-15) win against Alvernia Tuesday night.
The Dutchmen (10-3, 2-0 CC) controlled the match from the very start as
Sasha Birosik served the first 14 points of the match on the way to the three-set win.
Jamie Hawk threw down 14 kills while hitting .480 to go with seven digs and four aces, and
Sarah Godfrey added nine kills to hit .400 for the match.
Kacey Musselman put up 33 assists while making four kills of her own. Birosik had three aces while serving up 26 attempts in the match.
Kristen Rupp led Alvernia with six kills and nine digs.
The Crusaders (5-6, 0-2 CC) never had a chance after falling behind 14-0 in the first set, but came back to lead much of the second following an opening service run by Alyssa Soltis. However, LVC chipped away to take the lead on a four-point swing at 18-18 with kills by Hawk and Musselman keying the run. Two kills each by Hawk and
Steph Klunk closed the set.
The third set was all Dutchmen as they hit a blistering .424 and
Sarah Godfrey threw down five kills.
LVC will take the weekend off before visiting Messiah on Sept. 28.
