W. Lax Rally Falls Short Against FDU-Florham

Women's Lacrosse
FDU-Florham 17, Lebanon Valley 14

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Lebanon Valley rallied for eight second-half goals, but FDU-Florham's big halftime lead was too much to overcome as the Devils won, 17-14, in a Middle Atlantic Conference game on Sunday.

The Dutchmen (5-5, 4-3 MAC) found themselves down 13-6 at the half after the Devils (7-4, 6-2 MAC) blew the game open with five goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half, but a late fightback cut the lead to three in the closing minutes of the game.

Lindsey Buckman scored five goals to pace the LVC offense, while Hana Krechel scored four - including her 50th of the season - to go with seven draw controls. Allison McGinniss had three assists, all in the second half.

Breana Kilpatrick and Sara Franckowiak scored four apiece for FDU (including Kilpatrick's career 100th), and Jennie Jones added a hat trick.

The Dutchmen scored an efficient 14 goals on 20 shots, but struggled to create chances in the first half as the Devils used their speed and passing to open up a big 13-6 lead at the break.

But the Dutchmen turned things around in the second half, riding six saves by Corinne Palombo at the back while the offense settled in. After two goals in 25 seconds from Christy Wilson and Krechel cut the lead to 14-9, Franckowiak answered with a quick goal, but a 3-0 spurt with goals by Buckman, Suzanne Sullivan, and Krechel brought the Dutchmen within three at 15-12 with 8:40 left to go.

The Devils quickly shut the door on any comeback hopes, however, as McKenzie Loughlin and Kilpatrick hit a minute apart, and late goals under two minutes by Taylor Kruter and Kaitlin Montgomery weren't enough as the rally ran out of time.

FDU led 36-20 on shots and 18-15 on draw controls. Palombo made 10 saves in the loss; Jessica Burkhard did not make a stop in 30 minutes in the win, while Ashley Smith made one save in the second half.

LVC visits King's on Wednesday.
