M. Soccer Tie at Marywood, Knocked Out of ECACs On Shootout

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley men's soccer team (12-8-1) battled through regulation and two overtime periods but were overcome by Marywood in a shootout in the opening round of the ECAC Championship Tournament Wednesday.

The teams tied,1-1, through regulation. Kris Kassel scored first for Marywood in the second minute of the second half.

The Pacers (13-5-1) maintained that lead until the 67th minute, when Kelly Hess connected off a service from Conner McAuliffe to tie it up. The goal was the fifth of the season for Hess.

Marywood held a slight 15-14 advantage in shots in regulation, but they were able to hold the Dutchmen to just three overtime shots.

Chris Hall, Andrew Cooper, and McAuliffe each scored shootout goals, but Marywood scored its first  four of five attempts and will advance to the next round of the tournament.

James Clements made six saves in 110 minutes for the Dutchmen. This is just the second tie of his career.

The Dutchmen won four of five regular season games that went to overtime. They lost, 2-1, to Alvernia in the Commonwealth Conference title game before being selected to the ECAC tournament.
