HERSHEY, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley hockey team (2-9, 0-3 ECHA) lost 4-1 to Drexel (6-7) Friday night in a game that could have gotten much uglier.
The Dragons took a 3-0 lead in the first period on 14 shots. They outshot the Dutchmen by five shots on the period but dominated on the open ice and maintained steady control of the puck.
Things began to look brighter in the second period when
Cole Bell connected off a pass from
Matt Kisiday to make it 3-1. The goal, which scored with 17:43 to play in the period, was Bell's third of the season.
The Dragons recaptured a three-goal lead with a score by Kyle Zoldywith 6:59 to play in the second.
Neither team found the net in the final period, but the Dutchmen looked stronger on the ice. They led in third period shots, 12-5, after taking nine shots in the first and just three in the second.
Daniel Ramirez played the entire game in net for LVC, finishing with 24 saves on 28 shots.
The Dutchmen host Penn State Berks next Friday at 7 p.m.
