ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's soccer (8-5, 1-1 CC) team took a tough loss Saturday afternoon from Alvernia (9-2-1, 2-0), 1-0.
The game was mutually physical from the start, though the Dutchmen finished with 11 fouls to the Crusaders one. Seven of those fouls came in the first half of regulation.
The game's only card—a 61
st minute yellowcard—was given to Alvernia's Domenic Montone.
James Clements was strong in goal for the Dutchmen, recording seven saves on eight tries. He took the game into overtime in an attempt to capture his ninth win of the season but allowed the game-winning goal on the first and only shot taken after regulation.
That goal belongs to Alvernia's Eric Franks, who weaved through defenders to score unassisted in the 94
th minute.
Kelly Hess and
Chris Hall took three shots each for the Dutchmen, despite being heavily covered from start to finish.
Ben Diller was perfect on shots on goal for the Crusaders. He made five saves, including one on Hall.
LVC plays at Albright Tuesday at 7 p.m.
