READING, Pa. -
Jocelyn Novak scored her third straight hat trick to move to second on the NCAA all-time scoring list, leading Lebanon Valley in a 5-0 shutout of Albright on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (8-4, 2-1 CC) did not allow a shot until late in the second half as they drilled 39 chances on the Lions (3-10, 0-2 CC).
Lauren Brumbach and
Kirsten Martzall also scored for LVC.
Novak scored LVC's first two goals, then notched the 121st of her career late in the second half to move into second place all-time in Division III and just 10 goals behind the goals record of 131 held by Lynchburg's Allie Weir.
Novak opened the scoring in the 11th minute when she beat Marguerite DeLucas to the far right post of Brumbach's push forward, then tallied unassisted to start the second half when she came around DeLucas in the circle to score.
Brumbach added one of her own in the 45th minute, and Novak finished the hat trick off Martzall's assist in the 54th minute. Martzall then added a goal from
Jenni Walker with a finish in the 64th minute.
Christine Poletti (64:20) and
Chloe Baro (5:40) did not have to make a save in the combined shutout. DeLucas was outstanding, making 16 stops to keep her team in the game in the first half.
LVC held a 39-1 shots advantage and led 17-2 on penalty corners.
The Dutchmen return home Monday to host Dickinson.
