ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley volleyball team (12-5, 3-1 CC) made short work of conference foes Lycoming (9-7, 2-2) Tuesday night in a three-set sweep that lasted just one hour and 10 minutes.
Dutchmen seniors
Jamie Hawk and
Nicole Barra came as advertised, sharing the match-high with 10 kills each. Hawk finished with an outstanding .450 attack percentage.
Setter
Kacey Musselman had 36 assists on the night. She shared the match-high in digs with
Angela Kuperavage with 10 each.
The Dutchmen broke a 10-10 tie in the first set with two consecutive kills by Hawk. They allowed just five more points in the set and finished with their biggest lead of the night, nine points, in a 25-16 final.
Sasha Birosik helped finish out the final set with a service ace that put the Dutchmen up 24-16. Jackie Oliva and Shelby Gear brought the Warriors back to 24-18 with a pair of kills before Katelyn McKillop committed a service error that would send the Dutchmen to the win column.
LVC got more accurate in its attack as the night wore on. They finished the third set with a .324 attack percentage--their high watermark of the night. Meanwhile, Lycoming consistently dropped and ultimately finished the third set with a .133.
Other Dutchmen standouts of the night: Kelsey Groff finished with eight kills and seven assists; Birosik finished with two service aces and eight digs.
LVC plays at the Neumann Quad this weekend. They will play Neumann Friday night and Frostburg State and Bridgewater on Saturday.
