Box Score
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Jamie Hawk, the reigning Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, finished with a .545 hitting percentage and 14 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Misericordia Friday.
Lebanon Valley (17-5, 4-1 CC) and Misericordia (8-11) had never faced off in volleyball before, but the Dutchmen made a strong statement in recording their ninth sweep of the season. The win was their fourth consecutive sweep and sixth consecutive win overall leading into Oktoberfest weekend.
Hawk's 14 kills led the offense, but the story was more about defense for the Dutchmen, who would not allow a Cougar rally all night.
Angela Kuperavage led with 16 digs.
Kellsie Groff had another 15, and
Kacey Musselman had 11.
The Dutchmen attack committed 17 errors and finished with just a .215 hitting percentage collectively, but they played aggressively enough to keep the Cougars on edge and making mistakes. LVC got eight service aces over the match, all on reception errors by the Cougars.
Jess Finlayson was the hot hand at server, finishing with three aces.
LVC had four blocks on the night, including a block solo by
Sarah Godfrey.
LVC hosts Muhlenberg Saturday at 10 a.m. and Stevenson at 2 p.m.
