CARLISLE, Pa. – Opening the day with a straight set victory over host Dickinson, Lebanon Valley volleyball ran into a tough York (Pa.) team and fell 3-1 on the first day of the Dickinson Invitational Friday. Junior
Jamie Hawk led the Dutchmen with 22 kills through two matches, while classmate
Angela Kuperavage tallied a team-high 41 digs.
Lebanon Valley started with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-21, 25-12) win over Dickinson. Hawk posted 13 kills in the match through two sets. Senior
Emily Perkins had 30 assists and Kuperavage notched 15 digs.
The Dutchmen recorded six blocks with Perkins posting a team-high two block assists. LVC was strong serving, with 12 aces in the match. Senior
Jess Raber and Kuperavage had four aces each, while Perkins totaled two.
LVC suffered its first loss of the season, 3-1 (20-25, 27-29, 25-18, 20-25) to York (Pa.) later in the day. Freshman
Megan Schoch had a team-high 11 kills. Hawk and senior
Emily Hopkins tallied nine kills each. Perkins continued her success with 46 assists in the match.
The team recorded a season-high 95 digs against the Spartans. Two Dutchmen posted more than 20 digs, with Kuperavage leading with 26 and Raber contributed 21 digs. LVC had two blocks, including a solo block by Schoch.
The Dutchmen wrap up play at the Dickinson Invitational Saturday with a 12 p.m. match against Saint Vincent and a 4 p.m. contest against Salisbury.
