Late Goals Lift W. Lax Over Arcadia, 9-8

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Late goals by Rachel Murkey and Hana Krechel - including the free-position gamewinner by Krechel with 33 seconds left - lifted Lebanon Valley to a come-from-behind 9-8 win over Arcadia on Wednesday.

The Dutchmen (4-1, 2-0 MAC) won their third straight and stayed perfect in conference play thanks to seven goals by Krechel. The Knights (0-4, 0-3 MAC) turned in a great defensive effort as they faced a 37-22 shots deficit.

Meghan Fallon and Stephanie Holguin each had hat tricks to lead Arcadia. Goalkeeper Evelyn Ciaburri played just the second half in relief of Amalie Kreitman, but was outstanding with 10 saves to keep the Knights in the game.

Neither team led by more than two goals during the game, which was tied 4-4 at the half before Arcadia took an 8-6 lead with 6:20 left in the game following a pair of goals 39 seconds apart by Holguin and Fallon.

Krechel scored off the ensuing draw to cut the lead to 8-7, and LVC hunted for an equalizer and found it with 2:58 to go when Murkey took a rebound off Jen Strack's shot and buried the finish to tie it at 8-8.

Both teams traded possession off the draw, and LVC had a great chance to go up as Murkey shot wide with just over a minute to go. Arcadia ended up with the ball, but Amanda Cubbage forced a turnover with a check to send the ball out of bounds with 44 seconds left, and Krechel managed to draw a free-position shot seconds later.

LVC had been 0-for-4 from eight meters up to that point, but Krechel buried her seventh goal of the game to put them up 9-8.

Arcadia had one last-ditch chance after Kreena Patel caused a turnover from Suzanne Sullivan, but Erica Ameigh made her 10th save of the day as she stopped Holguin's shot as time expired.

LVC will visit Widener on Saturday at 1 p.m.
