READING, Pa. - Alvernia scored early and held the lead as they beat Lebanon Valley, 3-0, in women's soccer on Saturday.
The Crusaders (10-2-2, 1-1 CC) snapped a four-game winning streak by the Dutchmen (7-4-1, 0-1 CC), who were making their Commonwealth Conference debut.
Alvernia's Sara Gimber scored 4:27 into the game, and Rachel Gimber scored off a rebound to double the lead in the 57th minute. Felicia Sippel added a late goal with a hard shot at 84:20.
LVC had plenty of chances, taking 11 shots, led by three from
Stevi Laird. Alvernia held a 19-11 shots advantage (including 10-5 in the first half) and led 5-3 on corners.
Sami Young had nine saves in the loss. Kirsten Kelley stopped five to earn the clean sheet for Alvernia.
LVC heads to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday.
