READING, Pa. - Andrew Cooper scored 2:20 into the game, and Lebanon Valley held on to the lead to top Alvernia, 1-0, in Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday.

The Dutchmen (7-4, 1-0 CC) were unlucky not to get more as they peppered 14 shots on the Crusaders (6-5-1, 0-2 CC).

Cooper put LVC on top in the third minute, taking Chris Hall's short pass at the 18 and blasting it into the right corner. That would be all LVC would need, despite plenty of chances, including seven shots by Hall.

James Clements had to make just one save to pick up the shutout. Drew Gilbert stopped seven for Alvernia. LVC led 14-5 on shots; corners were even at 4-4.

LVC will visit Elizabethtown on Wednesday night.
