ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley won the opening game of the 2010 Dutchman Quad, using solid hitting and a strong serving game to beat Neumann 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-14) Friday night.
Joelle Snyder had an outstanding match, throwing down 15 kills while hitting an errorless .556 and dominating the service game with five of LVC's nine aces.
Emily Hopkins added 10 kills as
Emily Perkins put up 37 assists.
Angela Kuperavage led the defensive effort with 18 digs.
LVC survived two tight sets to start, then got hot in the third, hitting .375 as they limited Neumann to .062 hitting.
The Dutchmen (14-6) spread out the attacking behind Snyder and Hopkins, with
Megan Schoch hitting for six kills (.308),
Jamie Hawk five (.214), and
Nicole Barra four (.133). Hawk also had three blocks.

In the nightcap, Bridgewater outlasted Frostburg State in a see-saw five-setter, 3-2 (25-23, 16-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-12). Candice Guy had 21 kills to lead Bridgewater; Sarah Stephens hit a match-high 27 kills for Frostburg.
The Dutchmen Quad finishes Saturday with side-by-side matches starting at 10:30 a.m.
