Box Score

HERSHEY, Pa.
- Nick Scultz's second hat trick of the season pushed Lebanon Valley to a 5-0 start as they got by Kutztown, 6-1, Friday night at Hersheypark Arena.

The Dutchmen (5-0) were frustrated by Kutztown netminder Billy Booth for most of the game before potting three goals in the final 4:50 of the third period to run away with the win. Booth had 46 saves in the game.

Nick Averona had a goal and an assist, and Colin Thompson added two helpers for LVC.

Kutztown had the better chances in the first period and took an early lead on Cody Ruff's goal, but Shane Golden equalized off Tyler Skroski's pass midway through the period.

The tide turned for LVC in the second as they whipped 28 shots in, scoring twice but leaving plenty of missed opportunities on the ice. Schultz and Matt Conroy both tallied, but the Dutchmen missed a penalty shot, had a goal disallowed, and rang the post in what could have been a big period.

The scoring finally came late in the third as Averona broke through on the power play with 4:50 to go in the game, and Schultz tallied twice less than a minute apart.

The game got chippy in the third, as well; 19 of the game's 24 penalties came in the period, including matching game misconducts on LVC's Brad Surdam and Kutztown's Alex Reinhard.

Rich Drazin made 24 saves to pick up the win. LVC was 2-for-6 on the power play, the Bears 0-for-2.

LVC will host Drexel next Friday night.
