GLENSIDE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley couldn't answer three goals from Arcadia as they fell, 3-0, in a Commonwealth Conference men's soccer game on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (8-6-1, 2-2-1 CC, 7 pts) remained in a tie with Alvernia for the fourth and final playoff spot after the Crusaders tied with Widener earlier on Saturday; LVC beat Alvernia, 1-0, and holds any tiebreak over them. Arcadia (9-7-0, 4-2 CC, 12 pts) solidified their hold on third place with the win.
Arcadia held a 15-5 shots advantage, and held LVC to a single chance in the first half. Jeff McDonald broke through on a corner kick in the 36th minute, and Zacahry Todd doubled the lead in the 52nd minute on an inside touch.
Tim Svitak iced it with a 76th-minute goal from Ben Smith on a close-range shot.
James Clements made six saves in the loss; Ryan Lantzy stopped three to earn the clean sheet. LVC led 5-2 on corners.
The Dutchmen host #9 Messiah on Wednesday in a make-up game.
