Box Score

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -
Emily Bainbridge scored the only goal of the second half to provide the final margin of victory as Lebanon Valley won its first game of the season, 3-2, over FDU-Florham on SUnday.

Bainbridge came away from a scrum in front of the net to secure the ball and put away her first score of the season. That was enough as LVC played solid defense the remainder of the game, allowing just five shots by FDu the rest of the way - and Sami Young was ready to save the two that reached net. Young finished with four saves total in the game.

FDU opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a goal from Brittany Kanickij. She came in alone off a feed from Lora Fink to give FDU the early 1-0 lead.

Lauren King answered for LVC in the 12th minute with her first goal of the season. She collected a Sara Drabenstadt pass, juked around a defender and powered a shot that bounced off the keeper and into the net to square things up.

Less than a minute and a half later, Sara Drabenstadt gave the Dutchmen their first lead of the game with a breakaway goal assisted by King.

Kanickij tied the game again in the 23rd minute off a rebound of a penalty kick. Young made the first save, but Kanickij punced quickly to knot the game.

LVC applied pressure in the second half, launching ten shots towards goal. Bainbridge's was the most important one, securing the victory for Lebanon Valley.

LVC is now 1-1-1 in 2009. The Dutchmen are back in action Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. in their home opener against Bryn Mawr.
