Dominating Second Set Propels Volleyball to 3-0 Win

Box Score

READING, Pa. -
Highly efficient hitting keyed Lebanon Valley to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-6, 25-19) win over Albright in a Commonwealth Conference volleyball match on Wednesday. The Dutchmen hit .286 over the three sets, with 43 kills to just nine errors on 119 total attempts. On the other side of the net, Albright had only 27 kills with 21 errors on 108 attempts - a hitting percentage of .056.

The true story of the match was the second set, where LVC was pretty much perfect. Of the Dutchmen's 29 attack attempts, 14 found open space for kills while none resulted in an error. LVC's hitting % was .483. Albright only found four kills in the second set while committing seven errors on 33 attempts for a hitting % of -.091. It is no surprise that the Dutchmen won that middle frame, 25-6.

“We were playing a swarming defense and forced them into bad situations,” head coach Wayne Perry said. “When we play aggressively like that, we are tough to beat.”

Joelle Snyder had 12 kills with only one error for LVC. Emily Hopkins had seven kills on 15 attacks with no errors. Michelle Little had nine kills with only one error.

Angela Kuperavage finished the match with 14 digs. Emily Perkins added 37 assists.

The Dutchmen were again on fire in the service game, dialing up eight aces. Hannah Free had three of the aces while Little added two. Snyder, Kuperavage and Jess Raber each had one ace in the win.

The Dutchmen are now 15-1 and improve to 2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. Albright falls to 0-3 in the conference and 7-10 overall.

LVC heads to Franklin & Marshall for three matches this weekend in the F&M Scramble.
