WEST CHESTER, Pa. - As the old saying goes, "All Good Things Must Come to an End."
LVC's 30-match regular season winning streak was ended by Widener on Wednesday night with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-23) loss at Widener. The loss is the first of 2009 for LVC, dropping the Dutchmen's record to 10-1. Also snapped was LVC's nine-match winning streak in the Commonwealth Conference.
The Dutchmen came out strong, taking the first set convincingly. However, mistakes on the attack stopped LVC's momentum and allowed Widener to swing key points in its favor to win the final three sets by a combined seven points.
The third set needed extra play, with Widener claiming it 26-24. The third set was also won by two points, 25-23.
The close margin of victory shows just how easily LVC could be heading home with a win.
Joelle Snyder finished with 19 kills for the Dutchmen. Michelle Little and Nicole Barra each had 10 kills. Emily Hopkins was also in double digits with 11 kills.
Angela Kuperavage finished with 19 digs. Michelle Little dug out 15 balls and Hannah Free came up with 13.
Emily Perkins ended the match with 54 assists.
LVC is now 1-1 in the Commonwealth Conference, as is Widener.
