ANNVILLE, Pa. - Make it 6-0 for Lebanon Valley!
An overall dominating performance announced to the Commonwealth Conference that LVC plans on making it extremely difficult for anyone to deny the Dutchmen a repeat as champions for the first time in school history. LVC jumped all over Arcadia, vanquishing the Knights, 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-17) to secure the best start of this decade - and of course, the century. The previous best start in the 2000s was 5-0 by the 2001 squad. LVC also starts 1-0 in CC play.
The Dutchmen were led by Joelle Snyder. She was practically perfect on the attack for head coach Wayne Perry. Snyder finished with 14 kills on 19 attempts and no errors. Her hitting percentage was a whopping .737. Her scoring wasn't only dialed in from the net, she zeroed in on Knight defenders from the back as well, serving up three aces. Not content to pace the offense, she blocked one attempt by herself and assisted on two others.
Emily Hopkins was also relentless on the attack for the Dutchmen, scoring 10 kills on 18 attempts with just one error. In all nine different players registered at least one kill, showing that LVC possesses extreme depth as it begins the conference season.
Emily Perkins dished out 29 assists while picking up nine digs. Hannah Free (12) and Michelle Little (11) were the only Dutchmen in double figures in digs.
Lebanon Valley has now won 15-straight home matches dating back to 11/7/07.
The Dutchmen will be home all weekend, playing in the annual Dutchmen Tournament Friday and Saturday in LVC Gymnasium.
