Women's Soccer 9/15/2009 6:32:08 PM Kirkhoff's Three Points Pace Women's Soccer to 3-0 Win Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - Three different players found the back of the net for Lebanon Valley as the Dutchmen shutout Wilkes, 3-0, in a non-conference women's soccer match. With the win, LVC improves to 3-2-1. Wilkes is now 3-3. Junior midfielder Ely Kirkhoff began the scoring in the 20th minute with a goal off a direct kick. It was her first of the season and sixth of her career. Just under 15 minutes later, Kirkhoff sent a shot on goal that was originally stopped by Wilkes' keeper. Stevi Laird pounced on the rebound and sent it home for her third goal of the season and a 2-0 Dutchmen lead. In the second half, LVC played solid defense, protecting the two-goal lead. Late in the match, in the 87th minute, sophomore Courtney Catania scored her first career goal on an individual effort as she dribbled around the keeper for an open score. The 3-0 lead would hold up and LVC secured its first shutout of the season. Sami Young played all 90 minutes for her second win. The Dutchmen are back home on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. to play Susquehanna on Kids Day at Herbert Field.Print Friendly Version
