SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University struck the gamewinner with less than five minutes to go as the Crusaders topped Lebanon Valley College, 2-1, in men's soccer action Wednesday night.
The Dutchmen (4-5-0) found a second-half equalizer by
Jared Fisher, but gave up the winner in the 86th minute by the Crusaders' (5-3-0) Shane Atha.
SU's Jim Robertiello put his side up in the 19th minute when he one-touched a ball over
Tim Mehl. The score stayed that way until the 75th minute when Fisher's shot made it through the defense to level the game at 1-1.
Susquehanna pressured, and found the go-ahead goal when Jim Robertiello threw into the box for Atha, who collected the loose ball and scored.
SU held a 12-10 shots advantage and led 6-3 on corners. BJ Merriam made a save to pick up the win, while Mehl made two stops in the loss.
LVC will start conference play Saturday, heading to Elizabethtown College for a 7 p.m. game.
