Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Despite better offensive numbers, Lebanon Valley committed four turnovers and failed to capitalize in the red zone as Albright College rolled, 31-14, in MAC action Saturday at Arnold Field.

The Lions (6-2, 4-1 MAC) stayed in a first-place tie with Lycoming, while the Dutchmen (5-3, 3-2 MAC) will now have to hope for some help in the next two weeks if they want to clinch a share of the MAC championship.

Tanner Kelly was outstanding for Albright, going 19-of-25 for 167 yards and three touchdowns. Caleb Fick was 16-of-31 with two scores and two interceptions.

LVC was held to 126 yards on the ground, well below their season average, and had 335 yards of total offense to Albright's 257, but the Lions managed to score on all three of their trips to the red zone while Lebanon Valley was 1-of-3.

While Albright was turnover-free, giveaways were costly for the Dutchmen. Ben Guiles' fumble on the first play of the second half led to a 37-yard touchdown strike by Kelly to Luke Wallace a play later to go up 24-14, and three other turnovers set up Albright with excellent field position.

Defensively, Brian Cottone was everywhere, piling up 12 tackles, 4.5 for a loss, and half a sack. Bruno Iozzo also had 12 hits. Andrew Kibler was the standout for Albright, making seven tackles with two for a loss, an interception, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Albright controlled nearly the entire first quarter, running an epic 17-play, 10-minute drive, but the Lions came away with only a 32-yard John Whelan field goal to show for it. William Alston tore the game open early in the second quarter, however, with a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown.

LVC responded two drives later when, on first down, Fick went long for a wide-open Joe Brennan, who outran his coverage for the 79-yard score.

Albright struck right back on Nate Romig's four-yard catch midway through the quarter to go up 17-7, but the Dutchmen would manage to shift the momentum back before the half. With just over a minute to work with, Fick marched LVC 55 yards downfield with some superb clock management that resulted in a four-yard pass to Matt Donley with five seconds left in the half.

Whatever momentum LVC had built was shattered with the fumble to start the second half and Wallace's ensuing touchdown, and Albright piled it on with Romig's second touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Lion defense, meanwhile, pitched a second-half shutout to help in the win.

LVC will play their home finale next Saturday, hosting FDU-Florham at 1 p.m.
