YORK, Pa. - Freshman
Jocelyn Novak notched a hat trick and sophomore
Cait Eckenrode scored twice as #7 Lebanon Valley College routed York College, 9-2, in non-conference play Tuesday.
The Dutchmen (16-2) ran out to a 6-1 halftime lead on the Spartans (8-12).
With a goal and two assists,
Alex Wolfe brought her season assists total to 14, tying former teammate
Mimi Sullivan '08's season record set in 2006. Wolfe's career total of 32 is also two away from tying Sullivan for the program lead.
Novak, meanwhile, brought her season goal total to 25, two short of
Steph Marguglio '07's single-season goals record of 27. With 52 points this season, Novak is also approaching Marguglio's points record of 60 in a season.
After a slow opening, Wolfe cracked the scoreboard midway through the half, and
Avery Carter converted a penalty stroke in the 20th minute. Eckenrode followed with her first a minute and a half later off Wolfe's helper before York pulled a goal back thanks to April McFarland.
The Dutchmen, however, kept pressing, and Novak tallied off
Rachel Pantalone's feed before Eckenrode added her second. Novak then closed out the half with four minutes remaining off Wolfe's assist.
Novak completed her hat trick two and a half minutes into the second half, and
Allison Bicher and
Jenni Walker , with her first career goal, closed out the scoring for LVC.
Rachel Houck added a second-half goal for the Spartans.
Caitlin Baro played the full 70 minutes and made two saves, while Maggie Schlauch stopped eight. LVC held a 20-8 shots advantage and led 9-5 on corners.
The Dutchmen return to Annville for the regular-season home finale against Arcadia University Saturday at 11 a.m.
