#7 LVC Routs Widener, 7-1

CHESTER, Pa
. - Led by four players with four-point performances, #7 LVC jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to a 7-1 Commonwealth Conference victory at Widener University on Thursday.

The Dutchmen (15-2, 3-1 CC) moved a step closer to securing a home playoff game with the win, while the Pride (6-9, 1-2 CC) are left fighting for the final playoff spot.

Shelly Lobach opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an unassisted strike, and Jocelyn Novak added two more over the next three minutes to bring her season goal tally to 22, just five short of the LVC single-season record.

Rachel Pantalone added the first of her two goals at 24:31 off Lobach's helper, and Avery Carter converted a penalty stroke seven seconds before halftime.

Carter opened the second half with another goal, with Lobach again assisting, and Pantalone added her second in the 52nd minute off Cait Eckenrode's pass.

Widener spoiled the shutout with Jackie Elliott's score at 61:26.

LVC held a 27-6 shots advantage, with all of Widener's shots coming in the second half. LVC also led 18-9 on corners.

Caitlin Baro worked the first half and did not make a save, while Christine Poletti played the second half and made three stops. Megan Purcell had 15 saves for Widener.

LVC will visit York College Oct. 28.
