Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa.
- Freshman Ben Guiles scored a go-ahead touchdown in overtime and the Lebanon Valley defense stopped Widener on their possession as LVC won, 20-13, in overtime at Arnold Field.

The Dutchmen (4-2, 2-1 MAC) moved into a tie for first place as FDU-Florham shocked #14 Delaware Valley and Wilkes beat Lycoming. The Pride (3-3, 1-2 MAC) lost in Annville for the first time since 1992.

LVC converted a fourth-and-15 in overtime with a Caleb Fick strike to Joe Brennan, and a 13-yard pass to Scott Klein and a two-yard tote by Guiles put LVC up 20-13.

On their turn, Widener's Al Humes was sacked by Brian Cottone and Daryl Buck on first down to back the Pride up to the 30, but two passes put them on the seven with a chance for a first down at the two-yard line. On fourth-and-five, Humes completed to Tim Kilkenny, and Brian Cottone made the hit to set up a measurement for first down.

The capacity Oktoberfest crowd stood waiting to erupt as the officials brought out the chains. The Pride were a foot short, giving LVC the win.

Guiles' touchdown capped a 72-yard day as he and Cruz Mannherz (88 yards, 1 TD) filled in for an injured Charlie Parker, who left the game in the second quarter after racking up 99 yards in the first.

Fick was 13-of-33 for 188 yards and two interceptions, favoring Matt Donley, who caught nine balls for 114 yards.

Widener's Drew Lagomarsino was 4-of-6 for 27 yards before being pulled in favor of Humes, who went 13-for-22 for 160 yards with two touchdowns and two picks in a half of work.

LVC racked up 457 yards of total offense while holding Widener to 197, including just 35 in the first half. Will Keylor had a team-high eight tackles, and Anthony Pezzella was big in the middle with six stops and two sacks.

In regulation, LVC had two touchdowns called back on penalties, and Parker fumbled on the one-yard line on the opening drive to deny a score. Widener scored with 34 seconds left in regulation to set up overtime.

Brittany Ryan opened the scoring in the first half with her first career field goal from 30, and Mannherz broke loose for a 62-yard dash in the second quarter to go up 10-0.

Ryan tacked on a 22-yard boot in the third quarter, but Widener got on the board with 2:13 left thanks to Michael Penna's 19-yard reception. Matthew Breslin's extra point, however, clanked the right post to keep it at 13-6.

LVC had a chance to increase the lead early in the fourth, but Dan DiBona hit the upright from 30 yards on a field goal try. The sides traded possessions with LVC unable to score despite starting in Widener territory three times.

Widener had to drive from their own 13 to hope to tie the game, and did so, scoring on Marcus Payton's 21-yard catch with 34 seconds left to stun the home crowd. LVC had several shots at the end zone in the final seconds, but couldn't covert as regulation expired.
