DeSales Stops Men's Soccer, 3-2

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team had a three-game win streak snapped Saturday as it fell to DeSales University, 3-2.

The Dutchmen (6-3) led 2-1 at the break and gave up two unanswered goals in the second half. The Bulldogs (1-7) won its first game of the season. The game was a make-up of a rained-out date on Sept. 11.

The first half featured a spurt of goals midway through the period. LVC sophomore Mark Johnson opened the scoring off classmate Joe Kopchick's assist in the 22nd minute, but DeSales' Michael Felker equalized less than a minute later.

Sophomore Travis Steedle put the Dutchmen back on top in the 28th minute off Johnson's feed.

But the Bulldogs, hungry for their first win of the season, struck twice in the second half, first when German Reyes tallied at 50:36 and then when Dustin Sturm netted the gamewinner nine minutes from time.

LVC held a 12-11 edge on shots and led 4-3 on corners. Junior Tim Mehl made three saves, while Rusty Riedmiller stopped four in the win.

Lebanon Valley returns home Wednesday to face Susquehanna University at 4 p.m.
