ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lenny Stanziano has been named as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Lebanon Valley College, Head Coach Brad McAlester has announced.
Stanziano comes to the Valley from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the NCAA Division III program. Last year, he helped guide the Seahawks to a 16-11 record and a 9-7 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). Stanziano also helped St. Mary’s reach the semifinals of the 2006-07 CAC playoffs.
Prior to his stint at St. Mary’s, Stanziano worked as an assistant boys’ basketball coach at Monsignor Donovan (N.J.) High School for two seasons (2003-2005). He helped build the Griffin basketball program into one of New Jersey’s best. During the two-year span, he helped Monsignor Donovan not only reach the state tournament but advance over higher-seeded opponents both years. It was also at Monsignor Donovan where Stanziano coached current LVC forward James Shinn.
A Barnegat, N.J. native, Stanziano is a 2005 graduate of Richard Stockton College, where he obtained a degree in business studies with a concentration in management.
At Lebanon Valley, Stanziano will also serve as a resident director and will live on campus.
The Flying Dutchmen kick off their 2007-08 season at home when they host the 16th annual Rinso Marquette Tournament on Nov. 17-18. Lebanon Valley will host York College (N.Y.) in the first round of the tournament.
