ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team fell short in its quest for a Commonwealth Conference title, dropping the championship game to Elizabethtown College, 3-0 (30-16, 30-20, 30-17) at Thompson Gym on Saturday.
The Blue Jays (31-6) are the first Commonwealth champion other than Juniata College since 1980. Juniata departed the conference this year after winning 26-straight titles.
The Dutchmen (22-9) will now wait to see if they receive a bid to the ECAC tournament.
Elizabethtown setter Stacey Wasserman earned tournament MVP honors as she put up 37 assists and added four kills had nine digs with no errors.
The Dutchmen hit poorly in the match at .079. Freshman Joelle Snyder led LVC with nine kills, but the Blue Jays neutralized the rest of LVC's front line with 12 blocks as Margaret Prebula had three kills and Michelle Little five.
Senior Jill Miller had 19 digs and sophomore Christa Vrable added 16 for LVC. Freshman Emily Perkins had 17 assists for LVC.
