Carney’s Three Wins Lead Men’s Swimming Over Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Kevin Carney won three events to lead the Lebanon Valley College men’s swimming team to a 99-85 victory at Ursinus College Friday afternoon.

Lebanon Valley’s women’s team lost by a score of 134-62 to the Bears.

Carney captured the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:36.70), the 200-yard IM (2:11.59), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.67) as the men’s team evened its record at 4-4.

Freshmen J.T. Grob and Johnny Scheonberger also won individual events. Grob placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.75 seconds while Schoenberger touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.34 seconds.

The men’s team also came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as junior Jared Wilkerson, senior Matt Woods, Schoenberger, and Grob clocked a 1:37.83.

Freshman Lisa Niethamer recorded the women’s team’s lone victory, as she prevailed in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.54). Lebanon Valley’s women’s squad fell to 2-8.

Both teams return to action on Saturday, when they host Ocean County College at 1 p.m.
