Volleyball Splits a Pair of Matches at Pitt-Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team split a pair of matches at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday afternoon.

LVC, ranked fourth regionally, defeated Lycoming College 3-0 (30-25, 30-26, 30-28), but fell to Division II UPJ 3-0 (30-28, 30-22, 30-23).

Lebanon Valley is now 18-5.

Against Lycoming, freshman Jess Guntz (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) led the way with 16 kills and four blocks while classmate Ashley Watson (Columbia Cross Roads, Pa./Troy) had nine kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Natalie Goodfellow (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) had nine kills and junior Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) added 17 digs. Junior Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) contributed 47 assists, four blocks and two aces.

Guntz also had a strong match against UPJ, throwing down a team-high 12 kills. Senior Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) added nine kills and 11 digs while Goodfellow had 11 kills. Watson posted nine kills while Ferree and Roth recorded 12 and 13 digs, respectively.

Lebanon Valley returns to Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday, when it hosts Messiah College at 7 p.m.
