Volleyball Drops a Pair at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end Saturday, as the Flying Dutchmen lost a pair of non-conference contests at Lycoming College.

LVC (16-9), ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic region, opened the day with a tough 3-2 (30-23, 19-30, 30-27, 39-41, 13-15) loss to Lycoming, the fifth-ranked team in the region, then dropped a 3-0 (30-14, 30-23, 30-21) decision to Pitt-Johnstown.

Against the Warriors, senior Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) led the Valley with 19 kills while sophomore Lexi Horstman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) added 17 kills and five blocks. Sophomore Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) handed out 48 assists and came up with 25 digs while classmate Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) had 33 digs. Senior Angie McCracken (York Springs, Pa./Woodsboro (Md.) and contributed five blocks.

Bahn and Horstman also had a solid match against UPJ, as each player totaled a team-high 11 kills. Roth distributed 32 assists while Roth had 16 digs. Ferree recorded 12 digs while freshman Steph Bedgar (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) added 11 digs.

Lebanon Valley returns to action when it takes on Messiah College in a big Commonwealth Conference match on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
