Tyler Long became an Assistant Coach for the Lebanon Valley College baseball team in the fall of 2025.
Prior to joining the Dutchmen, Long was a Graduate Assistant and the Director of Baseball Operations for his alma mater, Division I Mount St. Mary’s University, during the 2025 season. In this position, he assisted in practices, scouting opponents, running Trackman, recruiting, coordinating travel, and field maintenance. Long was also an Assistant Coach for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) in 2025, where he worked with the club’s infielders and hitters while serving as the Third Base Coach.
As a player, Long was the starting shortstop for Mount St. Mary’s from 2021 to 2024. He put together an excellent career for the Mountaineers, graduating with a program record of 148 runs scored while logging a .295 batting average, a .407 on-base percentage, 194 hits, 88 walks, 10 home runs, and 98 RBIs. Long also ranked in the top 10 in program history in games played, at-bats, hits, walks, hit-by-pitches, stolen bases, and assists in the field upon graduation. The shortstop garnered accolades for his success, earning a spot on the 2023 All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Second Team. Additionally, Long played an integral role in Mount St. Mary’s reaching the semifinals of the 2024 MAAC Championship.
Long graduated from Mount St. Mary’s with a bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Special Education in May 2024. He also earned his master’s in Sports Management from the university in August 2025.
Long is originally from Annville, Pa., and attended nearby Annville-Cleona High School. In high school, he was a four-year letter winner in baseball and a three-year letter winner in football, earning league and county All-Star honors in both sports. His father, Tommy Long ’02, also played baseball for the Dutchmen in 2000 and 2001.
