David Shapiro '99 has served as Lebanon Valley’s Esports Director of Operations since 2017.
Shapiro, the Chief Information Officer for LVC, has more than 15 years of experience as a leader in the IT field. In addition, Shapiro contributes as a Digital Communications Adjunct Professor, focusing on programming and database courses, as well as studies in game development.
Shapiro led LVC in building the first Esports Varsity program in Pennsylvania. In recent years, LVC Esports has become a perennial competitive team nationally, winning national titles and competitions against the best colleges and universities. In 2019, Shapiro led LVC to expand its Esports program, adding games, roster spots, and a new state-of-the-art arena. Working with international partners and sponsors, Shapiro continues to put LVC and LVC's Esports future in a leading role nationally.
As the Chief Information Officer for Lebanon Valley College's Information Technology department, Shapiro develops and implements the strategic plan for information technology. He oversees the implementation of the latest technological products and services, promotes IT support, services, and projects, and provides assurance and guidance on information privacy, security, and compliance, among his many duties.
Shapiro is a 1999 graduate of Lebanon Valley College. He earned his M.B.A. from Western Governors University.
