Dave Sanfilippo rejoined the coaching staff for the Dutchmen before the 2023-24 season, after previously serving as an Assistant Coach for two seasons. He is responsible for helping develop LVC’s javelin throwers.
Sanfilippo has extensive coaching experience, working with track and field athletes collegiately and at other levels for over 30 years. He began coaching in 1991 with his alma mater, Division II Kutztown University. Sanfilippo is a great motivator and is well-rounded in all event areas. While he is knowledgeable on many events, he is a javelin specialist. Sanfilippo has coached Ian Paul during his time at LVC, helping the javelin thrower qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships and finish 13th to earn Second Team All-America honors. Paul also won the javelin at the MAC Outdoor Championships in 2024.
Sanfilippo was a four-year member of the track and field team at Kutztown, where he was a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifier in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter sprints. He also ran on the All-Conference 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams.
After his collegiate career, Sanfilippo learned the javelin from former world record holder Al Cantello and developed a passion for the event. Sanfilippo is a national and world-ranked masters javelin thrower.
