Corey Wenger joined the coaching staff for the Flying Dutchmen in 2006, and he has worked with the team’s secondary for more than a decade. Wenger served as the Interim Defensive Coordinator for the 2010 season, as well.
At LVC, Wenger has built a secondary unit that has included some outstanding players. He has coached 12 players who have received 15 All-Middle Atlantic Conference honors. The newest addition to the list is free safety Evan Kutzler ’25, D’27.
Additional All-Conference players during Wenger’s tenure include: Dan Stauffer ’08, Russ DeStefano ’08, Dane Eichelberger ’11 (three times), Alex Gilchrist, Josh Borreli ’13, Zach Wierman ’15, Kevin Antol ’16, Kyle Murray ’17, Tim Schumacher ’18, Zach Adams ’19, D’21, and Erik Williams ’24 (two times).
Kutzler also garnered D3football.com All-Region 1 recognition twice in his career. DeStefano earned All-Region accolades at safety as well, while Borreli set an LVC record with three interception returns for touchdowns in a season in 2012. Additionally, cornerback Matt Lillis ’11 finished as the MAC leader in interceptions in 2009.
Wenger came to The Valley with eight years of experience as an Assistant Coach at five different colleges. He was the Offensive Coordinator at Hamilton College in 2004 and 2005. A 1998 graduate of the University of Miami (Fla.), Wenger has also been an Assistant Coach at Villanova University (2003 to 2004), Lafayette College (2002 to 2003), UMass-Lowell (2001 to 2002), and Shippensburg University (1998 to 2001), mainly coaching wide receivers, tight ends, and quarterbacks.
